Emerald Oils

Michael Corbett runs Emerald Oils, a farm based business in New Inn that produces quality cold-pressed Rapeseed Oil for the retail market. Michael and his family are the third generation of Corbett’s to farm this land in Tipperary. The product is grown, harvested and produced on the farm in New Inn, where the family manage the entire process themselves, from sewing the crop to pressing, bottling and marketing the finished product.

Michael approached South Tipperary Development Company in 2013 with his idea of growing and bottling Rapeseed Oil on his farm, having done considerable research on the topic and spotting a clear gap in the market as there was no producer in Munster at the time. Following a period of further research, product development and business planning, STDC were able to provide Michael with grant aid through the Rural Development Programme (LEADER) to develop his production unit. The product launched in SuperValu in 2015, and Emerald Oils is now available to buy in most SuperValu and speciality food outlets throughout Munster, with significant expansion planned in the future.
