South Tipperary Development CLG (STDC) is a local development company that has successfully delivered Rural Development and Social Inclusion programmes in South Tipperary since 2009.
Through our programmes we offer support to a wide range of individuals and groups within the County including job-seekers, small businesses, community groups, children and families.
STDC provides a pre-school and afterschool service in the Ballylynch area of Carrick On Suir. Family supports are also offered through the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme. (SICAP)
STDC is currently developing the supports that we offer to Children and Families in the Ballylynch area of Carrick On Suir. As part of this service development we are now recruiting for a Childcare and Family Support Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to be involved in the development of this new initiative.
Role Profile of Childcare and Family Support Manager
Reporting to the Social Inclusion Programme Manager, the Childcare and Family Support Manager will be based in Ballylynch,Carirck on Suir and be responsible for the overall efficient and effective operational function of the STDC Childcare Services and related Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) Family Support Programmes.
Childcare and Family Support
- To manage and oversee the childcare service, including direct service provision and day-to-day supervision of the childcare services
- To ensure that each child receives the required supports and resources to reach their full potential
- To facilitate a positive learning environment within both the pre-school and after school.
- To work to the principles of the SICAP and create and deliver family support programmes and activities which meet the needs of the children, parents and carers
- To develop and implement future plans for the service which incorporate the needs of the children and their families and encourages parents to become more involved in their child’s learning
- To ensure that all rooms, the utilities, building, and equipment is maintained well.
- To maintain a risk register for the operational provision of the childcare service.
- To act as the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) as per Túsla Policy.
Staff
- To ensure the delivery of all company policies, procedures, health and safety / risk assessments as stipulated in the Childcare Regulations.
- To provide support and supervision to childcare staff and employment programme staff.
General
- To manage the admissions process for children wishing to access the service.
- To maintain and upload all records as required by Pobal and the HSE and other relevant organisation.
- To record/balance fees received and to liaise with parents in relation to outstanding balances
- To ensure that revenue from Childcare subvention schemes and various grants is used efficiently and in line with the annual budget.
- To undertake appropriate reviews of the service and prepare reports for the Management as required.
- To identify any additional requirements of the service and apply for any relevant grant funding
- To maintain a positive and professional working relationship with the line manager; management team and CEO
- To ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all lines of communication.
Essential Requirements
- Level 8 in Early Childhood Care and Education or equivalent
- The experience and ability to manage, supervise and lead the childcare team.
- A child centred communicator with an inclusive approach to childcare and family support work and a thorough knowledge of child development and its application to practice.
- A comprehensive knowledge of Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 and (Registration of School Age Services) Regulations 2018.
- An understanding and knowledge of the National Quality Framework.
- An understanding of the effects of disadvantage on children and early learning
- An understanding of the importance of early learning and the role of the family
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Strong IT skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and an overview of CRM Systems
- The ability to work on own initiative and within a team.
